A Hobbit Feast

On Friday we had our Principal, Mrs. Gledhill, come to teach the class because Miss Harold was away. She got us to do our novel studies or to write non-sense poems. It was also the anniversary of the book The Hobbit! We had a second breakfast at 11:00 and, since Mrs. Gledhill is English, brought in real English Crumpets. She also brought in a topping for anyone who wanted to try, and it was very salty! Only me and some other students had tried it.

Aller Pecher and the 10 Second Hourglass

Grade 4 - 8  students are playing "Go Fish" in their second language choosing.
Alaina and Jack are playing "Ir Peces" (Spanish).
Zach and Sultana are playing "Aller Pecher" (French).
Aishah and Abdulwasae are playing "Samakah" (Arabic).

Caly is working on Dutch vocabulary.

Sultana and Alaina made a 10 second hourglass using pop bottles, hockey tape and kernels.  How would you make the grains flow slower?

This is Abdulwasae and his gold that he created for the students' science last week. Students needed to find ways to turn rocks into gold.  Many were very successful. If only they were real gold!

Wordles

These are mine and some of the other students Wordles. This was our homework for last week.

Rocks and Images

Last week, the younger students in class learned about Alchemy. The challenge was to find ways to turn rocks into gold. They tried different things such as boiling the rocks or painting them. Pictures to come...

The whole class also learned how to search Google properly by learning how to find images we are allowed to copy and save.
